The Wahoo Warriors were defeated the #1 rated Class B, Crete Cardinals 90-81 on Thursday night in Crete. It was a record setting night for Senior Marcus Glock. Marcus broke a 34 year old single game scoring record that was held by his Father, Jason. In 1990, Jason scored 52 points in a game against Schuyler. Last night Marcus scored 54 to break the record.

The Warriors found themselves in a hole early, as the Cardinals jumped to a 14-4 lead to start the game. The Warriors battled back to cut the lead to 25-21 at the end of one.

Wahoo would tie the game up at 34 midway through the second quarter on two Marcus Glock free throws. Moments later, Wahoo would take the lead at 36-34 on a Glock field goal. After a Cardinal trey, a Jase Kaminski lay up would give Wahoo it’s last lead at 38-37. The Warriors would go to the half down 45-40.

Crete would gain some separation in the third quarter and head to the fourth with a 66-54 lead.

The Warriors would not go away. A Marcus Glock trey cut the Crete lead to 76-73 with 2 minutes left. Following a Crete trey, Glock hit another trey with 1 minute left to cut the lead to 79-76. Wahoo would not get the stops that they needed in the last minute, and the Cardinals escaped with the 90-81 lead.

Marcus Glock was 4-8 from three point range, 9-17 from two point range, and 24-25 from the free throw line, for his record setting 54 points. The 24 made free throws were also a record that broke a 56 year old record set by Dick French in 1968 against Syracuse. Marcus also had 6 assists.

Dylan Simons had a team high 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Jase Kaminski added 7 points, and Barrett Lavaley had 6 points.

Crete was 12-27 (44.4%) from three point range, 20-24 (83.3%) from the line and outrebounded Wahoo 30-20. Wahoo was 26-28 (92.9%) from the line.

Crete improved to 18-0. Wahoo fell to 13-4. The Warriors will travel to Beatrice on Saturday.
