1/7/2025 vs. Elkhorn ... NONCONFERENCE / away / REGULAR SEASON /
Season Game #: 8 / Current Record: 6 - 2
WAHOO: 5 ... 17 ... 15 ... 19 .... 56
Elkhorn: 8 ... 14 ... 4 ... 21 .... 47
Wahoo travelled to Elkhorn for only its second road game of the season and brought home a 56 – 47 win over the Antlers. Elkhorn dropped to a 4-4 record, while the Warriors extended their winning streak to four games, 6 – 2 overall.
The win did not come easy for the Warriors as they led by only two points with under three minutes to go in the third period. But a Landon Fye score on a goal tending call started a 9 – 0 Wahoo run. After forcing an Antler shot clock violation, Ethan Raabe scored a traditional three point play, Eli Shada netted one in the lane, and Dylan Simons converted a steal to a layup. Wahoo led at the end of three, 37-26. Coach Bomar commented, “We were able to hold them to 4 points in the 3rd and get some balanced scoring (6 players scored in the quarter for us) to extend the lead to double digits. At that point it was just a matter of taking care of the ball and surviving a tough shooting night for us.”
The Warriors maintained the lead throughout the fourth period, Elkhorn coming no closer than eight points. It was a down night for Wahoo from the three-point line, attempting nine, but only Landon Glock was able to connect. Elkhorn was not much better but managed to make 5-out-of-20, including two in the first quarter that put the Antlers ahead 8 – 5. Cody Hesser kept Wahoo in the game in the second quarter, scoring eight points and putting Wahoo ahead 22 – 19. But an Elkhorn dunk and free throw in the final 20 seconds tied the score at the half.
Simons led Wahoo with 16 points, while Hesser was also in double figures with 15. The #7 ranked Warriors travel to Class C #1 Lincoln Lutheran this Saturday.

COACH BOMAR:
I thought it was going to be important tonight to have a great start, due to having a 10 day layoff from games and playing a physically challenging team in Elkhorn. We did not have that great start offensively, scoring only 5 points in the 1st quarter, but we were able to hold them to 8, which helped us manage our slow start. We kind of battled back and forth in the 2nd which Elkhorn getting some deep paint touches. We countered that with our transition off of defensive rebounds and some strong drives to the hole. We felt that at half time we needed to clean some things up on the defensive side of the ball knowing that points could come at a premium. Cody Hesser and Eli Shada both stepped up at different points in the game to provide big baskets around the rim. Dylan Simons put together another complete game with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. We now have 3 days off to prepare for one of our tougher challenges of the year in Lincoln Lutheran at there place.
