Season Game #: 11 / Current Record: 8 - 3

WAHOO: 20 ... 17 ... 11 ... 15 .... 63
Platteview: 11 ... 9 ... 13 ... 8 .... 41

Wahoo travelled to Platteview for one of its more challenging games of the season. The Trojans were 10 – 3 with their only losses coming from ranked opponents. The Warriors proved to be up to the challenge. Career high scoring from Eli Shada (14) and Landon Glock (14) and a willingness to share the ball (15 assists) produced an easy 63 – 41 victory. Coach Bomar called the performance “relentless on the defensive end and extremely unselfish on the offensive end.” The defense limited Platteview’s three pointing to just 20% (3/15) and forced 15 Trojan turnovers.

Shada and Glock made their presence known in the first quarter as Shada poured in six points from the lane area while Glock scored five, including his first of four three pointers. With the score tied at 11 with under two minutes to go in the period, Glock scored on a drive to the basket, Shada got two baskets in the paint and Dylan Simons made a three with :04 seconds to go. The Warriors led 20 – 11. On the first possession of the second period Simons found Cody Hesser cutting baseline for two. Jase Kaminski then netted a three and scored again on a drive to the hoop. That completed a 16 point run and put Wahoo ahead 27-11.

The Warriors pushed the lead to 22 points in the third period, but Platteview showed some life, closing within 13 at the end of the quarter. A Platteview drive to the basket at the start of the fourth made the score 48 – 35. That’s as close as the Trojans would come.

The win put Wahoo’s Trailblazer Conference regular season record at 3 - 0 and their overall record at 9 – 3. Coach Bomar pointed out that “This is a big Conference win as we are just a few days away from seeding for the Conference Tournament.”

COACH BOMAR:

I was incredibly proud of our overall effort tonight.  We were able to come out and punch them in the mouth in the first, giving ourselves a 20-11 advantage.  Then pushed that to a 17 point lead going into the half.  From there was about taking care of the ball and playing defense with the same consistent energy that we always do.  One of the big keys was Eli Shada’s aggressiveness around the rim. He went 7-10 from the floor, for 14 points, going right at Platteview’s two bigs.  Freshman Landon Glock went 4-8 from 3 for 14 points as well.  Dylan Simons had yet another game of filling up the stat sheet with 14 points, 7 boards, 3 blocks, 4 steals, and 4 assists.  Landon Fye left the game early with a thumb injury, but the whole team was able to replicate the defensive presence that Landon usually provides.
