Wahoo vs Ashland CT

A year ago Wahoo defeated Ashland to claim the Trailblazer Conference Tournament title. The Bluejays turned the tables on the Warriors this time around, registering their second championship in the six-year history of the conference. The Bluejays scored a 51 – 38 win due to an 11-point run to end the first half and an 8-2 start to the second half.

Ashland scored the final basket in each of the first three quarters. Cal Kissinger completed a five point run at the end of the first quarter with a drive to the basket that produced a 10 – 7 Bluejay lead. Logan Fangmeyer sank a three with :07 seconds left in the second quarter that put Ashland ahead 30 – 19. Derek Tonjes received an inside pass from Mason Mohs and scored at the buzzer to give Ashland a 40-23 lead.

Wahoo had kept the game close in the first quarter. A Kaminski three-pointer gave Wahoo an early lead at 7-5. In the second quarter a Kaminski drive knotted the score at 19-19. That’s when the Bluejays ran off 11 points that gave them a 30-19 lead at the half. A Landon Glock three with under two minutes to go in the game brought Wahoo as close as they would get at 47-36.

Cody Hesser was Wahoo’s only player in double figures with 12. Tonjes led Ashland with 24 points. Kissisnger also registered double figures with 15. Ashland, the #1 team in Class C1 (OWH) kept its record unblemished at 17-0. Wahoo dropped to 4 – 14, two of its losses coming from Ashland.
