Wahoo vs Elkhorn DT

Wahoo earned the #1 seed in the B-5 District Tournament and with it a home game against Elkhorn, a team they had defeated 48 – 37 in January. In the friendly confines of the newly named Mick Anderson Gymnasium, the Warriors launched a three-point attack that vanquished the Antlers 61 – 47. Led by Jase Kaminski’s 5-of-11, The Warriors connected on 13-of-27 three’s (48%). Elkhorn was 9-of-26 on 3-pointers, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Warriors’ efficiency.

The game was won in the middle quarters where Wahoo out-scored Elkhorn 41 – 17. Cody Hesser hit a buzzer-beater at the end of the first quarter to tie the game at 14. Elkhorn’s Austin Chaney scored inside to start the second period for Elkhorn’s last lead of the game. Wahoo then went on a 14-0 run which included four treys from Kaminski. Wahoo led at the half 32 – 20.

The Warriors extended their lead in the third quarter with another barrage of three’s, including three from Landon Glock. Behind 55 – 29 going into the final period, Elkhorn did mount a bit of a challenge with an 11 – 2 run, but it wasn’t enough as Wahoo hung on for the win.

Hesser led the Warriors in scoring with 22, while Kaminski scored 19 and Glock 11. Leading scorers for Elkhorn were Peter Howard and Logan Schulz, both with 9. Kip Brigham dished out 7 assists and took down 6 rebounds for Wahoo. Elkhorn finished their season 11 – 14. Wahoo advances to the district championship game against Lincoln Pius X with a 19 – 4 record.
