Wahoo vs Plattsmouth

Wahoo had defeated Plattsmouth 70-33 in the semi-finals of the Trailblazer Conference Tournament and the regular season contest wasn’t much different. Just six seconds had ticked off the clock when Jase Kaminski connected on a three-pointer to start Wahoo on its way to their 17th win of the season. The Warriors defeated the visiting Plattsmouth Blue Devils 78-45. Plattsmouth dropped to 10-11 on the season.

The Warriors excelled at long range shooting the entire game, finishing 9 out of 22 (41%). Joey Kelly scored three treys in the first half and totaled 14 points for the game, his career best. Landon Glock sank two from beyond the arc in the second quarter, Griffin Hancock had two for the game, and reserve Braydon Pacas scored the final points of the game with a three.

Wahoo fell behind early in the game as Plattsmouth also started out hot from long range, scoring four three’s in the first quarter. Plattsmouth held a 11 – 6 lead but Wahoo responded with a 6-0 run ending with a Glock lay-up on an assist from Kaminski. Cody Hesser got a putback at the buzzer to produce a 21-21 tie at the end of one.ß
The second period belonged to the Warriors. Kelly started off the period with a three-pointer and then a transition lay-up as the Warriors built a 30-21 lead. Plattsmouth’s Traceson Skalberg netted a three on the Blue Devil’s last possession to cut Wahoo’s lead to 40-30.

Wahoo would again outscore Plattsmouth by 10 in the third period. A Skalberg drive cut the Warriors’ lead to 52-39 with 2:53 to go in the quarter, but Wahoo went on a 9-2 run in the final three minutes ended with a Hancock three to give Wahoo a 20-point advantage. Kaminski scored 9 points in the quarter.

A demoralized Plattsmouth team could only manage four points in the final period as Wahoo cruised to a 33 point win. Cody Hesser (20) and Kaminski (18) joined Kelly in double figures. Alex Zielke led the Blue Devils with 14. The Warriors put up 20 assists for the game, led by Kaminski (8) and Kip Brigham (6). Wahoo also won the rebound battle 35-22.
